HISTORY OF BAY RUM
Lucia Bay Rum History

The company is named after the picturesque Caribbean island of St. Lucia (pronounced LOO-sha), one of the few places where the West Indian bay tree grows.

Since the 19th century, Bay Rum has been made using the oil extracted from the leaves of the West Indian bay tree or Pimenta Racemosa. The history of Bay Rum can be traced back hundreds of years to the Caribbean Islands, where, after careful preparation, locals would use the scented oils for medicinal and cleansing purposes. It is important to note that it is not related, botanically, to the bay leaf that is used in cooking.

Lucia Bay combines these bay leaves and other natural ingredients to bring you our spicy, invigorating scents.
